Hey there 15 ladies and gentlemen, it's time for "Jason's unwanted fabrication tips in Rob Dahm's IRpost channel comments"....you know DAHM right (see what i....oh, I'm sure. ANNAHOO...) IF you have any shape tubing to cut, if a weld is identified, ALWAYS place your material with the weld INTO THE BLADE... NEVER have the blade into the weld. Example: we use an automated horizontal cutoff saw, 1¼ tall band-style (with teeth; this tip not applicable for "hot" saws). I look, see weld on round tube is on the I.D. and rotate straight up. Just peachy also is the weld anywhere within roughly 100° into the blades' direction. Happy hacking, ya'alls.

Need to account for tire growth at speed

Truly a bad ass American "luxury muscle" car. They didn't make many CTS-V coupes to begin with. Less than 7,000 of them, from 2010 (only ONE for 2010) to 2014. Everyone knows the 1998 Toyota Supra is also a bad MF. And Toyota only sold 680 of them in the U.S. for that year. My friend bought one used in 2006 for $35K with 30K miles on it. And resold the car in 2009 for $45K, with 50K miles on it! I think this Cadillac is starting to trend the same way. Two years ago they had come way down in price, but it seems the prices are starting to climb now, much like they did with the Supras. Bottom line, buy one now, because these cars are starting appreciate due to their rarity. All that being said, my priorities in the last couple of years have prevented me from obtaining one. I had to go with a 2012 Coupe Performance 3.6. Which, while not a V, has still been a joy to own and drive, with the 318hp V6. And with the 3.6 Coupe being very similar in design to the V, ergonomics wise, I can attest to the gripes about the cup holders in the center console. Lol. And one thing you didn't mention about them, is the fact that the CTS's heating ducts for the rear, are routed right under those cup holders. So in the winter time, any iced, cold drink placed in them becomes a non iced, watered down, luke cold disgusting swill you instantly want to spit out. With the added "bonus" of a nice little puddle of water down in the holder needing to be cleaned up. The doors not staying open are exactly the same with the 3.6, as well. 😂 Too funny. And just wait until the electric door latch motor goes out. You'll LOVE that. Easily replaced in a couple hours though, if you have the tools, half a brain, and some patience. One thing you did not tell us in this video, is the year of your V. Correct me if I'm wrong. But great video. Enjoyed it. And the matte black paint, with black wheels, and yellow calipers looks fantastic.

Rob! Coming along nicely! Love the content. Thank you for sharing the story. I've built a few things and often forgot to consider a little chassis flex during slightly more extreme maneuvers. If the car bottoms hard enough for some reason, that tire will likely find a way to get a little closer than expected to the frame. Perhaps factor in a little "oh shit" space. Maybe an extra finger thickness or so. Keep it up!
